Our project with Waves Leisure Centre is an example of working collaboratively with client, tenant and other subcontractors to meet the customer’s needs alongside the particular challenges of our own project.

Working in a public building which is open daily between 6:30am and 9:30pm, with a large monthly footfall, presented a range of unique challenges to ensure safety and to minimise disruption for the public. Additional concerns had to be considered surrounding the diversity of users of the facility. This meant that the scaffolding had to be constructed out of hours, designed with segregated access for the workers and made secure from the public.

A day-to-night work schedule was agreed to be the preferred option; the initial structure was set up on the night of Day 1 with minor modifications each night to facilitate the work of the electricians as they progressed across the pool. This led to zero lost hours/days throughout the contract delivery, with this popular public facility retaining normal opening hours.
